Spain! Day 7: Valencia & coast

Today started with a bike ride from the center of Valencia down the coast to Albufera Park. It was a beautiful ride and we saw a lot of swallows along the way. At the end of the ride we stopped in El Saler. Everyone told us this is the best place to try paella!

I've made paella at home several times but have never had one in a restaurant to compare it to. Mine isn't bad, but this one was amazing!

As we were riding back into the city I found a bridge with gargoyles guarding each corner of it.

The Valencia Cathedral is said to house the Holy Grail, but that section of the church was closed during our trip. The tower was open so we paid to climb up and see a view from the top!

For dinner we met another friend and he brought us out to this amazing place we would never have found on our own (in fact he had problems finding it himself!) Mercat de la Imprenta recently opened and is housed in an old printing office. The inside is like a cafeteria where you can walk around and order whatever items you want at the different counters. I cheated and had a smash burger but I also sampled a couple of tapas our friend picked out for us.
